Morrys Moore
Morrys was born in South East England at Wyke Regis Weymouth on 1st July 1928. The eldest of three children, Morrys had two younger sisters, with his only surviving sister living in South Africa.

During the Second World War he served as an Air Cadet and later spent 2 years in the Royal Air Force. Morrys also worked as a fisherman in the English Channel even though he couldn't swim.

In 1949 he immigrated to Australia as a "10 POUND POM", with his last pound in his pocket he went to stay with family on a farm. There he had his first introduction to Australia. On his first or second day he was needed to fight a bush fire, What a start!

Morrys never looked back after his arrival in Australia and never regretted his decision. Always proud to be an Australian he gained his citizenship in 1970.

Destiny soon found him as a dance in Yoongerillup Hall, where he met the love of his life. When he met the beautiful young Jenny White his life's journey really began.

They married on 21st January 1956 and had five wonderful children, Jeffery, Rick, Judy, Anne and Wendy. They have in turn given Morrys 12 grandchildren which he doted upon wholeheartedly.

A truly gifted pianist he loved performing. Gilbert and Sullivan and Music Hall shows were some of his favorite concert pieces. Often he was asked to pay for weddings, 21st birthdays and Anniversaries in the Hitthergreen, Yoongerillup and Busselton areas.

He was also blessed with a superb tenor voice, and won many Eisteddfods in both duets and solo performances. He took even greater pleasure from just singing to his family especially to his grandchildren. They would light up with absolute joy utterly enchanted as they sat listening ti him, singing to them in his wonderful graceful voice.

Morrys was a dedicated and hard working man. All his life her worked long hours and drove all over the state. He worked for the WA Agricultural Department, managed a large dairy farm and worked for Elders-Smith Goldsborough Mort for 23 years before retiring.

During his lifetime Morrys saw many events, he saw Sputnik the first satellite to cross the sky, watched as man landed on the moon, the building of the space station and on one of his 5 visits to England he saw public flight of the Concord at the Farnsborough Air Show.

Some of the more light-hearted things he learnt through out his life include, Jenny teaching him how to swim and ensuring Morrys learnt the most valuable phrase he would know - "Yes Dear".

Never trust your 10 year old son to know the difference between the brake and accelerator when throwing hay bails onto the back of a truck.

When a greeting starts with "guess what they did today" it is never good, especially when there are five children to choose from.

When you come home from an evening at the local just because there is a casserole on the stove doesn't mean it's for you, the dog must eat as well.

Even a Vice Commodore of a yacht club is entitled to disown his own sons when they entertain the fleet with their rather lively discussion on which direction to tack.

Many years of service were dedicated to the Geograph Bay Yacht Club, with Morrys serving as Vice Commodore as well as working in the rescue boat and control tower.

A keen traveler he liked to tell people he had been to every state in Australia, however one thing he disliked with a passion was cold weather. Guess What. He was in Alice Springs when it snowed for the first time in white mans memory.

He had many interests in life one of which was bowls in which he won club championships. Bridge was another one of his passions and he won the state pairs for WA in an Australia wide competition.

In later years Alzheimer's became evident, that's when we discovered some great people organizations. Jenny, Morrys and family would like to thank the following for their un-ending support and care.
Dr Rodriguez
Queens Park Care Group
Residents of River Pines
Alzheimer's Association
Lefroy Hostel
Sarah Hardey House
Armadale Kelmscott Hospital
Morrys life was one roller coaster of a ride that he would have ridden forever. However during the last for years of his life Alzheimer's began to take it's toll.
