Hilary Ironmonger (Thompson) lived in Koorda, Western Australia most of her adult life. To the people of Koorda she was known as Mrs T.

She and her husband Len Thompson did not have children of their own but Hilary took it upon herself to treat all the children of Koorda as her own. It is unlikely there are many children that lived in Koorda during Hillary's time there that were not taught golf, tennis, hockey or some other sport by Hillary as she invested her time in the town and its people.

It is told that people coming to bake sales in Koorda would inquire before purchasing "Is this made by Mrs T" If the answer was "yes" then they purchased.

Hilary had such a reputation with her cooking and making of preserves in Koorda that a neighbour stopped by while the family was cleaning up the house to request she be able to take the cake tin that Hilary used every year to present her baked items at the Koorda Agricultural Society Show. The neighbour wanted to cake tin to be able to present her own baked items at the Show to try and sway the judges.
